Luke DuBois

Director of Research, Integrated Design and Media

Luke DuBois is a pioneer in computational art, composer, and software engineer who co-authored Jitter, a widely used software suite for real-time video and graphics. Over two decades, he has transformed massive datasets—from presidential speeches to 19 million dating profiles—into artworks exploring American identity. His work has been commissioned by the Whitney Museum and exhibited globally at the Smithsonian, Sundance, and major galleries. At NYU, DuBois co-founded the Ability Project to develop accessible technology. He also led a key collaboration on the opera Sensorium Ex, building personalized synthetic AI voices for nonverbal performers. Recognized for his contributions, he has received the London Design Biennale Jury Medal, the NYC Sapolin Accessibility Award, the NYU MLK Jr. Faculty Award, and an Honorary Doctorate from Goucher College.
