Metabolic Architecture: Yale CEA Designs Living Systems That Could Out-Perform Conventional HVAC
Assistant Professor Elizabeth Hénaff contributed to a Yale-led study showing that plant-based biofilters could reduce indoor CO2 below outdoor levels, something ventilation alone cannot do as atmospheric CO2 rises. The researchers found that relatively simple design choices, particularly airflow and lighting, dramatically change how well these building-integrated living systems perform.
