Special Opportunities
Funding
Each student will have access to funding to use each academic year toward tuition & fees for a summer or J-term course or additional credits over 18 in the fall and spring semesters; on-campus housing if they take part in the Tandon Summer Research Program; travel, hotel, and registration fees for conferences; travel, housing, and meal plan for study away opportunities, including the required fall semester abroad in sophomore year.

Global Career Accelerator
The Global Career Accelerator, offered through NYU Tandon School of Engineering, is a semester-long experiential learning program designed to equip students with practical, industry-relevant skills that enhance their academic and professional journeys.
Students earn job-worthy skills while completing real-world projects, gaining professional certifications, and building global career readiness. Each participant selects a focus area such as Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, Web Development, or Coding for Data, completing industry-aligned coursework developed in partnership with leading education and technology organizations.
Through this experience, students engage in hands-on project work, connect with global peers and mentors, and develop competencies valued across today’s innovation-driven industries. The program emphasizes career acceleration, applied learning, and global perspective, ensuring participants graduate with both credentials and confidence to enter the workforce.
Enrollment is open to NYU Tandon students seeking a structured pathway to gain practical experience, resume-building certifications, and professional networks that bridge the classroom and the global workplace. It is a great option for students who want to gain skills and enhance their resume.
Cost: $2,000 per student. GLASS students receive a $200 discount for a total cost of $1,800.
Payment can be submitted after confirmation approval from tandonglass@nyu.edu.
Note: Students cannot receive credit for this experience.
GLASS Cohort Seminar Course
GLASS students are required to enroll in a 0-credit GLASS cohort seminar each semester. Each seminar will focus on the 5 GLASS Windows. Some specific topics for each year are below:

Summer Before Sophomore Year:

Six week online asynchronous course starting in July.

An introduction to GLASS, NYU Tandon Impact Areas, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Preparation for the study away semester in the fall semester.

Sophomore year:

Online cultural competency & reflection course for study abroad students.

A focus on building professional development and leadership skills and reflecting on the study away experience.

Individualized career coaching and workshops

Junior year:

A focus on clarifying career goals and areas of interest within the NYU Tandon Impact Areas and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Professional development workshops and connection to opportunities for building your GLASS portfolio.

Completion of GLASS final deliverables, including a professional website showcasing the ways students fulfilled the competencies of the 5 GLASS Windows during their time in the program.

Featured Study Away Sites
NYU Abu Dhabi
The semester in Abu Dhabi will give students an opportunity to learn about their selected research areas and their global impact in a more hands-on way via the Engineers for Social Impact program, the AD Visiting Student Undergraduate Research Program(if the student is accepted), and possible internship opportunities. In addition, students would have an immersive multicultural experience during their AD semester, which will develop their understanding of the global or cross-cultural implications of their chosen research area and of the importance of designing context-specific solutions.
