Women's Basketball Reaches 11th Win
Holds Off Mount Saint Vincent 61-54
RIVERDALE, NY - The first time the NYU-Poly and Mount Saint Vincent women's basketball teams met, the result was a sloppy 66-57 win the Lady Jays. Fast forward to round two, this time on MSV's home court, and you saw the same result - another grueling win for NYU-Poly, 61-54. The Lady Jays improve to 11-5 overall and 8-3 in the Skyline Conference, while MSV falls to 6-11 and 4-8 in conference play.
With the win, NYU-Poly is now tied for third place with Old Westbury and one game behind Farmingdale (9-2) with a game against those same Rams coming up on Monday night.
It was a game full of momentum swings that saw MSV draw to within three points with 2:30 to play. However, for the second time this season, NYU-Poly converted their free throws late in the game to seal a victory.
Three NYU-POLY players combined for 49 of its 61 points with Kristin Leitheuser (Spring Valley, NY) leading the way with 19 pints to go along with 12 rebounds. Margaux Pickell (Howell, NJ) added 18 points and 21 boards, with 14 of her game-high rebound total coming before halftime.
