Clarity in life doesn’t always come from having all the answers — often, it comes from asking the right questions. For me, that moment arrived during my final year of undergraduate studies in Biotechnology. Before committing to a career in this space, I wanted a deeper, more practical understanding of the biotech landscape, especially its industrial applications. That’s when NYU’s MS Biotechnology program caught my eye. What drew me to NYU wasn’t just its global reputation — it was the program’s structure. It combined hands-on lab work with industry- relevant coursework and offered the option of pursuing internships for credit. This real-time exposure while studying was the ideal foundation I needed before diving into the biotech world.

Courses like Biotechnology and Healthcare and Pharma Asset Strategy helped me see that science isn’t just theoretical — it’s about how we apply it to create real impact. A biosensors and biochips assignment, in particular, highlighted how small innovations could drive tangible outcomes. My part-time work in NYU’s Biomolecular Science labs also helped me build practical skills in molecular and cell biology — experience that proved vital in securing two internships, where I worked on cutting-edge research and began shaping my career. After graduation, I joined an early stage Biotech startup in New York, working on a novel genome editing platform. I researched CRISPR and gene editing mechanisms, applying those concepts in efforts to improve editing precision and reduce off-target effects. NYU’s training — in agile research, experimental design, and lab techniques — proved invaluable. Looking back, NYU gave me more than academic knowledge. It gave me the confidence, clarity, and capability to navigate the biotech industry with purpose.
