Tandon Transfer Program

Welcome to NYU Tandon — Your Journey Starts Here

How We Can Support You

Individualized Tutoring

In partnership with PASS, we offer one-on-one peer tutoring to give your academic support a serious boost. Past TTP students have called it a “game changer” in helping them adjust to the pace and workload of Tandon courses. We focus on foundational classes — like math, science, and CS in your first and second year — but we’ve got support for advanced courses too!

Transfer Student Meet-Ups & Peer Mentoring

At TTP, there’s a place for you. We understand that transfer students have unique needs, so we’ve built support systems that go beyond academics.

Your People - Find your crew and feel at home. Meet other transfer students through our laid-back events and meet-ups — where you can share experiences, swap tips, and connect with people who really get what this transition is like.

Peer Mentors - Get paired with a peer mentor (juniors and seniors) who’s been in your shoes. They’ll help you navigate your first semester, answer questions, and show you the ropes. Whether you’re looking for advice or just someone to grab coffee with, we’ve got you covered.

Stepping Stones to Step-up: Leadership Development

Whether you're leading a group project, running a student club, or just want to feel more confident speaking up, we’ll help you build the tools to lead with clarity and purpose.

  • Find Your Leadership Style - Figure out how you lead — what comes naturally, and where there’s room to grow.
  • Boost Your Confidence - Practice speaking up, making decisions, and having honest conversations without all the second-guessing.
  • Lead With Others, Not Over Them - Group work is a big part of life at Tandon, and strong leadership can make or break a team. We’ll help you build the kind of leadership skills that bring people together and get things done.

Coaching & Strategy

College life comes with many challenges and opportunities for growth. TTP supports you in building on your strengths to navigate transitions with confidence. Common topics discussed include adjustment stress, assertiveness, imposter syndrome, and lack of motivation.

  • Imposter Syndrome - Feeling like, "What did I get myself into?" We create a space where you can talk it out, reframe those doubts, and recognize your real strengths. You do belong here, and we’ll help you believe it.
  • Handle Stress Like a Pro - Learn practical tools to manage stress, ease anxiety, and stay emotionally balanced — especially during high-pressure times like finals.
  • Motivation & Focus - Reconnect with your “why” and find the drive to push through challenges with purpose.
  • From Conflicts to Resolutions - Learn how to effectively and confidently navigate disagreements with roommates, group members, friends, and even professors to ensure you're heard.

Career Development: See Your Future Self — Starting Now

You don’t have to wait until graduation to start becoming your future self. Coaching helps you explore your interests, clarify your goals, and take real steps toward the career you want — starting today. Whether you’re still figuring things out or already have a dream job in mind, we’ll help you build the confidence, skills, and mindset to start showing up as that future version of you now.

In collaboration with our liaisons from the Brooklyn Wasserman Career Center and the Tandon Career Hub, the TTP will help you explore career opportunities, build your resume, and develop your professional path.

Master Your Time — Work Smarter Not Harder

We provide upscale productivity tips. You will learn strategies to manage your time and study smarter, not harder.

We’ll help you with goal setting and monitor your progress to help you stay on track with clear academic and personal milestones.

Whether you're juggling classes, work, clubs, or just trying to find time to breathe, coaching gives you personalized tools to stay organized, set priorities, and make room for both productivity and rest.

The most helpful part of my transfer experience to NYU Tandon was TTP.

Biweekly meetings with Shawn Tina provided me with encouragement, guidance, and informed me of all the resources available to students at Tandon. If I was taking a particularly difficult class, Shawn Tina would look for class notes from other students that could aid me as an extra study resource. Individual tutoring sessions were very beneficial, since I had the freedom to ask questions and focus on a specific topic.

The TTP program helped me feel connected to my peers and the Tandon community.

TTP expanded my community, helped me catch up to the demands of Tandon, and made me feel more connected to the Tandon experience. An additional aspect of TTP that helped me tremendously was the 1 on 1 meeting with my Trio advisor/counselor (Ms.Shawn Tina). Having the opportunity to meet with Shawn Tina helped me set up benchmarks for myself and keep track of my progress and goals along the semester. It was great having that personalized support and knowing that I had someone in my corner that I could always rely on with any question or challenge I had.

When I first came to Tandon, I had no concept of the opportunities here,

who to seek help from, and how I could further my career. Being apart of TTP has given me a supporting community with resources for all my questions and endeavors. From the one on one tutoring sessions, advising, career coaching and grant funding, TTP has allowed me to explore all that Tandon has to offer, and beyond! I am incredibly grateful for TTP’s support and I attribute my success as a civil engineering major at Tandon to the TTP community who have helped me on my journey thus far.
