Global Challenge: Educational Inequity and Limited Access to Holistic Learning Opportunities
Bio:
After a 20-hour journey from Malaysia to the United States, Sarah Safiyyah arrived as a charismatic and driven student with a growing passion for the intersection of business and technology. With a strong foundation in leadership—having served as Secretary of her high school’s student council and later as President of the Computer Science Club during her A-levels—she continues to explore her academic and personal interests with purpose and enthusiasm.
At NYU, Safiyyah actively engages with vibrant communities such as Tech Sisters, where she helps organize STEM initiatives to empower women, and the Muslim Students Association, where she deepens her faith and builds meaningful connections. Inspired by the flexibility, depth, and critical thinking encouraged by the U.S. education system, she is especially passionate about improving education in Malaysia.
Through the GLASS program, Safiyyah hopes to travel to different countries to learn how diverse communities address educational challenges and provide access to underserved populations. She looks forward to connecting with like-minded change makers and is committed to both personal growth and contributing meaningfully to global education reform.
