Global Challenge: Make the study of technology more accessible to people living in third world countries

Bio:

I am a rising sophomore at NYU Tandon School of Engineering majoring in Mechanical Engineering and planning to minor in Aerospace Engineering. I was born in Brazil, more specifically in São Paulo. I lived there until I was 16 when I moved to a small town in Canada for a high school exchange program. I spent a full year there for 12th Grade, and after graduating in Canada, I moved to New York for university.

During my freshman year at NYU, I joined the Robotics Design Team (RDT), a VIP robotics team that participates in a competition proposed by NASA and competes against several other universities. This was my first hands-on experience in my field. In addition, during the summer I participated in research at Fams Lab working directly with Professor Li on the development of a robot for medical use and I plan to continue to be part of the project during the next semester.

I still do not know which field of Mechanical Engineering I would like to participate in in the future. I always imagined myself in either the automotive industry or the aerospace field, but seeing the many opportunities that I have with this major made me realize that there are many more possible fields than I had previously thought.

In my free time, I like to go to the gym, play soccer, and spend time with my friends. I recently started lifting weights and it has been my main goal outside of the academic world, but as a good Brazilian, soccer has a special place in my heart
