Global Challenge: Means of providing basic necessities and sustainable technologies; eradication of poverty

Bio:

Taeyoung is a rising sophomore at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, majoring in Computer Science. Traveling all the way from South Korea, he has started his academic journey in the U.S. since 2019 first in Florida and now in New York. His traits resemble those of an adventurer; he believes that every growth, whether it be professional or personal, comes from personal challenge. He tends to seek ways to challenge himself and eager to gain experiences. Through many hardships one can face as a study-abroad student, he has learned to break out of his comfort zone when necessary.

During his academic year, he participated in FAMS vip team and learned basics of computer vision technology through reading published research papers and learning Ubuntu and Robot Operating System (ROS) under mentorship. He also gained some hands-on experience in data collection and was able to put his CAD skills into practice as well.

He wants to incorporate his passion in computer science into endorsing sustainable development around the globe. With his unique experience in Tanzania back in high school, he wishes to provide his support to people in need as he develops his career.

Fun facts:

Taeyoung has personal interests in fields outside of computer science as well. He appreciates and enjoys music; he loves going to karaoke and sing for his friends or himself. Influenced by the unique K-drama culture, his childhood dream was to become an actor and he still wishes to learn acting one day. He’s also a frequent gym goer.
