Applied Physics
NYU Tandon's Department of Applied Physics teaches students the fundamental principles of physics that underpin modern engineering, from electronics and materials to energy, quantum computing, and communications.

John Di Bartolo
John Di Bartolo is an educator and academic leader dedicated to making physics accessible, engaging, and relevant to the next generation of engineers and scientists. Di Bartolo's research spans type-II superconductors, the mechanics of articulated figures, and educational physics software — work that has taken him from peer-reviewed journals to interviews with WIRED, the Science Channel, and the Washington Post on the physics of sports and human motion. Di Bartolo is also helping to lead Tandon’s growing presence in quantum science and technology education, expanding the undergraduate Quantum Technologies minor, bringing experiential opportunities such as the hAQathon to campus, and helping launch the new M.S. in Quantum Science & Technology.
