Solar-powered data server network developed to frame the internet as a natural resource
Solar Protocol, developed by Tega Brain, industry assistant professor affiliated with Connected Cities with Smart Transportation (C2SMART), Benedetta Piantella, industry assistant professor and member of the Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP), and Alex Nathanson, adjunct professor, is a network of servers that are directly tied to solar and energy storage. The team explained Solar Protocol is not an alternative to the internet or something that is planned to be scaled, but rather an “open standard” and a model that can be replicated.
