Factory Waste Heat Could Help Cool Data Centers Thanks to Novel Zeolite Thermal Battery
Assistant Professors Dharik Mallapragada and Pavel Kots modeled a system in which industrial waste heat is used to "charge" zeolite minerals, which are then transported to data centers to provide cooling on demand, reducing data center cooling electricity consumption by up to 86% and total combined electricity use by more than 75%.
