Training and Support

Mandatory Student Leader Orientation

At the start of their term, student club leaders from your organization must complete the Student Leader Orientation (SLO) training. Prior to the training, please review the Student Club & Organization Handbook. Failure to complete Student Leader Orientation by the semester's deadline will result in a suspension of club activities, including registering/holding events and spending initial allocation funds, until all required officers complete the training.

Student Leader Orientation is now VIRTUAL through NYU LMS (Brightspace). Each club is required to have at least four officers complete Student Leader Orientation. Clubs will receive instructions via email in early September on how to access and complete SLO.

Purchasing Card Training

All NEW student club presidents and treasurers must also complete the purchasing card training in order to use their club purchasing credit card. Purchasing Card Training is now part of the Student Leader Orientation course site on Brightspace.

Partner with the Tandon Career Hub

The Tandon Career Hub encourages student clubs and organizations to partner with us throughout the year. If your organization is preparing for conferences, wants to host an event with potential employers, or is conducting site visits, we can help you put your best foot forward with resumes, cover letters, networking tips, connections to industry professionals and more. Select examples of potential events and workshops for your organization are as follows:

  • Resume and Cover Letter Writing and Review: Have staff review students’ resumes and share advice and best practices to help students.
  • Mock Interviewing Workshop: Help students understand how to solve technical challenges, answer interview questions, present their work, and gain confidence showcasing their skills and knowledge.
  • Networking Mixer (in-person): Take part in informal coffee chats/networking mixers between recruiting/engineering staff at an organization and members of your student organization at our Brooklyn campus.

Please fill out the following request form at least 2 weeks in advance of your anticipated event/need. Thank you and we look forward to collaborating with your club!
