Rosanna Bellini is an assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at NYU Tandon. She is also an affiliate of the Center for Cybersecurity at NYU. Previously, she held a postdoctoral scholar position at Cornell Tech under Prof. Nicola Dell and Prof. Thomas Ristenpart. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Newcastle (UK).

Her research pioneers scientific approaches to detect and prevent technology-enabled harms. To accomplish this, she works across the fields of Computer Security and Privacy and Human-Computer Interaction to: a) analyze adversarial behavior and attack strategies, b) develop and deploy preventative and responsive interventions, and c) build a community of practice dedicated to safer research involving at-risk users across academia and industry.

Formerly, she was part of the leadership team for the Clinic to End Tech Abuse; a frontline service for survivors of technology-facilitated abuse ran out of Cornell Tech, and has personally helped hundreds survivors reclaim their privacy, security, and financial freedom. To advocate for, and achieve measurable change she has led highly-successful cross-sector collaborations between non-profit organizations, private multinational companies, and governmental departments. She has also successfully advocated for alterations to consumer protection and civil rights law in New York State, and for improvements in the biometric-based authentication processes, user alerts, and payment memos in major mobile banking applications for tens of millions of customers.
