Deo Choudhury

DR. DEO C. CHOUDHURY, professor emeritus of physics, has published a series of significant research papers in pr0fessioinal journals:  on problems of cosmology, nuclear structure, high energy nuclear scattering, nuclear models, ionospheric physics, and atomic physics, beginning from early 1950 and continues to do so. Currently, he is working on a problem in cosmology, “An Interpretation of Type 1a Supernovae data within Framework of the Inflationary Universe without Dark energy”. Recently his original research publications in the period from 1950 until 1980 have been indexed in the catalog of Niels Bohr Archive in Copenhagen and also in the International catalog of sources for History of Physics and Allied sciences. (Information about this is available* and at  http://www.aip.org/history/ead/nba_aage_bohr/20020124_content.html

These papers have been encoded by the Center for History of Physics, American Institute of Physics as part of a collaborative project supported by a grant from the National Endowment of the Humanities, an independent federal agency.  Collaboration members in 2002 consisted of the American Institute of Physics, California Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Northwestern University, Rice University , University of Alaska, University of Illinois, and University of Texas.

Professor Choudhury was also an invited participant at a special Symposium in Celebration of the Center for History of Physics. It was co-sponsored by the American Institute of Physics, Center for History of Physics and Niels Bohr Library & Archives and the Department of History, University of Maryland,  May 9, 2008, College Park, Maryland. Presently he is also a guest physicist at Brookhaven. National Laboratory
