Academic Advising
As an NYU London student, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a fully immersive global experience during your first year. At the same time, your connection to Tandon will be an important hallmark of this experience, with academic advising being one of the vehicles to make this happen.
Throughout your time in London, you will work with the NY-based Academic Advisement Center, the advising hub for Tandon’s first-year students. Your first-year advisor is one of your primary academic advocates, one who’s dedicated to helping you learn how to navigate your new academic home. Each semester, you will be required to meet with your academic advisor for academic planning and pre-registration sessions, contacts aimed at ensuring you feel supported and are aware of the resources available to you. Beyond required contacts, you are always welcome to reach out to your advisor–student-initiated meetings make the relationship with your advisor a dynamic one!
Coursework
As a STEM student, it is critical that you complete the foundational classes prescribed by your major. During your time in London, you will work with your academic advisor to ensure you complete your first year course requirements. Subject areas that comprise your first year include:
- Computer Science
- Math
- Science
- Expository Writing
- Humanities or Free Elective
- Introduction to Major
You are encouraged to review the program of study for your major, as a part of your preparatory activities, so that you are familiar with how your first year courses connect with your upper-level classes.
