Tandon undergraduates with strong academic records may apply for admission to the BS/MS Track. This track leads to a Master’s degree at Tandon after earning the Bachelor’s degree.

While still undergraduates, the BS/MS Track allows students to get a head start on graduate coursework toward a Tandon Master's degree. Qualified students are typically considered for admission to the track during their junior year. In their remaining undergraduate semesters, they will complete some graduate coursework during regular terms and/or during the summer towards their desired master's degree.

Please note that the BS/MS Track applies to degrees at NYU Tandon only. The master's degree cannot be pursued at another school of NYU.

The BS/MS Track is open to current Tandon students who meet the eligibility criteria. External transfer students and students pursuing a second bachelor's degree are not eligible for this track. Internal transfer students may be considered for the BS/MS Track on a case-by-case basis.

    Tuition and Scholarship Benefits

Students will pay regular School of Engineering undergraduate tuition during the undergraduate portion of the BS/MS Track. All financial aid and scholarships can be used toward the completion of the undergraduate degree. Students receiving undergraduate financial aid are required to maintain at least half-time enrollment status (minimum 6 undergraduate credits that apply to their BS degree requirements) in the final undergraduate semester in order to extend their aid eligibility. Students are strongly advised to contact the Office of Financial Aid to discuss their individual situation and how their enrollment status would impact their financial aid.

The BS degree should be completed within 4 years. If more time is needed, students may file an appeal for continued undergraduate financial aid. Students are no longer eligible to receive undergraduate financial aid and undergraduate scholarships after transitioning to the MS program.

Students in the BS/MS Track receive a graduate scholarship covering 50% of tuition for credits required during the MS portion of the track. The scholarship is provided only after the completion of the BS degree and upon matriculation into a graduate program. It is calculated on the basis of the remaining credits needed to complete the MS degree.

The graduate tuition scholarship will be available for a maximum of twelve months from the start of the student’s first term in the graduate program after the conferral of the BS degree.

The BS/MS scholarship can only be applied to graduate credits that are needed to complete the MS degree. In addition, students who receive a W grade for a graduate course will not receive additional BS/MS scholarship funds to either retake or replace those credits.

Students are no longer eligible to receive undergraduate financial aid and undergraduate scholarships after transitioning to the MS program. If additional financial support is needed beyond the BS/MS scholarship, students must contact the Office of Financial Aid to discuss their eligibility for graduate financial aid.
