Pathways to Graduate School
Continue your educational journey at NYU Tandon through these graduate school pathways.
BS/MS Program
Undergraduates with strong academic records in certain programs may apply for admission to the BS/MS Program, which leads to the award of both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from NYU Tandon in less time than it typically takes to complete both separately. While still undergraduates, this program allows students to make steady progress towards completing the two degrees for a lesser cost through a combination of earned AP credits, completed summer coursework, and additional credits over the limit completed each semester. Qualified students are typically considered for admission to the program during their junior year. In their remaining undergraduate semesters, they will complete some graduate coursework during regular terms and/or during the summer towards their desired master's degree.
Please note that the BS/MS Program applies to degrees at Tandon only. The master's degree cannot be pursued at another school of NYU.
Who's eligible
- Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better.
- Junior academic level (Term Start) as stated in Albert at the time of the application deadline
Bridge Program
The 100% online NYU Tandon Bridge course prepares students without a Computer Science degree or other substantial programming experience to apply for select NYU Tandon Master’s Degree programs. In the course, students will learn computer science fundamentals and programming with C++. Enrolled Bridge students who apply for one of our select Master’s degree programs will have their application put on hold until they’ve completed the Bridge course. Students’ performance in the Bridge will count toward their Master’s degree application decisions. The Bridge is a non-credit certificate course, and those who complete the Bridge with a final grade of C or above will earn a Certificate of Completion, and those who earn a B+ or above will receive a Certificate of Completion with Distinction.
The NYU Tandon Bridge course is taught by faculty members of the Computer Science department at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, aided by NYU Tandon Graduate student teaching assistants. Students will participate in interactive online modules, live webinars, assignments, and tests. Each week, the professors host a virtual lecture and discussion session. A recording of each lecture will be posted to the course site for those who cannot attend, and the TA’s will host virtual office hours. Students are expected to set aside time to study and complete the homework assignments by the due dates. In addition, there are 4 exams at fixed times and dates which students must be able to attend. Prior to the start of the course, students will gain access to an online orientation where they will be able to interact with classmates, and take a practice exam.
Who's eligible
Those without a Computer Science background or similar, or who have little to no prior programming experience are eligible to apply. Applicants must have completed a 4-year or 120 credit Bachelor’s degree (or US equivalent) prior to the start of the course.
FLEX5
The Flex5 program would offer highly qualified and motivated NYU Tandon undergraduate students in their final year the opportunity to pursue the Management of Technology MS online or Industrial Engineering MS on-campus within 5 years after graduation. This means that students would have the flexibility to apply for and be admitted to their master's program but defer their attendance for up to 5 years to the future term of their choice. Students are required to have at least two years of work experience before joining the program after their graduation.
