Data-Driven Productivity Framework for Urban Infrastructure Projects

Transportation & Infrastructure

A construction engineer and supervisor stand together at the top of a building that is under construction. A large yellow crane is in the background. Together, they review a blueprint. They are both wearing orange vests and safety helmets.

Project Type:
Data Science/Business Analytics

Students developed a data-driven performance management framework to transition a municipal transportation department's platform from basic project documentation to advanced productivity tracking. Using construction quantities, labor records, and contextual data from more than 5,000 active urban infrastructure projects, the team established standardized productivity-scoring metrics. This allowed for fair efficiency comparisons across various construction crews. Ultimately, this framework enables project managers to detect productivity risks early, optimize resource allocation, and support data-backed planning decisions for pedestrian ramp construction across the city.
