Four electronic gates restrict access beyond the entrance of a building. Each gate has a place where an individual can scan their digital card or ID badge to access areas beyond the gate.

Students independently evaluated a new gate technology designed by a large software and IT company. Through analysis of operational data, the students assessed whether the new gates effectively relieved bottlenecks for users when entering and exiting. Further, the students assessed user sentiment of the new technology by developing an AI-driven sentiment analysis of public comments on social media platforms. This included a sentiment tracking dashboard that the company could use going forward to check in on public sentiment.
