Bio:

Ryan is a dedicated student at New York University's Tandon School of Engineering, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Currently a Junior with a strong foundation in courses such Data Structures & and Object-Oriented Programming, he is committed to mastering the multi-faceted discipline which is computer engineering.

Ryan is currently a member of the Rogue Aerospace VIP at NYU Tandon, where he works on the electronics team. His role focuses on the rocket’s camera system, integrating a Raspberry Pi with cameras and other electronic components to support onboard imaging and data collection. As a former research assistant working in aerospace at the McNair Aerospace Center in Columbia, SC, Ryan is shaping his future to be aerospace oriented. Through these experiences, he hopes to secure a co-op or internship where he can further develop his skills in electronics and innovative aerospace technology. He has made it a goal to take what he learns from these experiences and use it to make a positive impact on the community around him, whether through sustainable engineering solutions, innovative technology, or helping create a more efficient and resilient future.

During his spring sophomore semester, Ryan spent a semester studying at NYU Shanghai. He met many fantastic individuals from various disciplines, something he struggled with back in NYC. As a rapidly developing city, Shanghai demonstrated how innovation can be integrated into everyday life, from transportation and public infrastructure to energy-efficient systems. Experiencing these technologies firsthand shaped his perspective on what the future of American cities could look like and inspired him to pursue engineering solutions that make communities more sustainable, efficient, and resilient. Ryan considers going abroad to be very beneficial in his growth personally and professionally.

As a first generation college student, GLASS has given Ryan a sense of direction and guidance through his journey at NYU. GLASS has alleviated a lot of the struggles and confusions that students go through. To Ryan, GLASS gives him a sense of community and comfort in being surrounded by like-minded individuals who share similar goals and aspirations to him. While being a part of GLASS, he has been focusing on SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. He believes through AI development and sustainable urbanization, the environmental problems caused by densely populated cities can be tackled. This interest stems from his small-town background and the contrast he experienced while studying in New York City and Shanghai, China. Coming from a smaller community, experiencing life in one of the world’s largest and most densely populated cities gave him a new perspective on how technology and infrastructure can shape the way people live. Seeing innovative solutions integrated into everyday life made him consider what American cities could look like in the future and how much of a profund impact engineers can have in creating communities that are more sustainable, efficient, and resilient.

In his personal time, Ryan loves to read and sketch. He also loves spending time with his peers whether it be going out during his spare time or connecting with others online. Ryan loves to travel and learn about different cultures, not just their highlights, but also the everyday experiences of ordinary people. He seeks to understand the deeper differences between communities and what shapes them.
