Bio:
Mia Andreu is a junior at NYU Tandon School of Engineering pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Aerospace. Originally from the Carolinas, Mia moved to New York for college and has embraced the city as her new home.
This past summer and continuing through the school year, Mia interned as a Mechanical Engineering Energy Intern at WSP. Here, she supported energy optimization across multiple client projects through CAD drawings and sustainable design analyses aligned with LEED and ESG standards. She previously worked with Piedmont Service Group in Raleigh as an Energy Sustainability Systems Intern, where she built Excel models that validated projected savings and contributed to Investment Grade Audits for commercial clients.
At Tandon, Mia is a member of Rogue Aerospace, contributing to the dynamics team by designing and testing fin prototypes for subscale rockets, including work that supported her team’s recognition in NASA’s University Student Launch Initiative. She also earned first place in NYU’s Nick Russo Award competition for designing a LEED Platinum academic building using Revit, incorporating sustainable features like rooftop vegetation and solar-optimized windows.
Outside of engineering, Mia is passionate about equitable education and has tutored high school students in mathematics and physics as well as volunteered in her community with the Brooklyn Book Bodega. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting/knitting — selling and commissioning custom pieces — as well as weightlifting, hiking, and exploring museums.
