Krish Gupta

Global Challenge: Creating a more sustainable world systematically through environmental policy and technology.

Bio:

Krish is a junior studying Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering with a minor in Philosophy. He plans to pursue a career path in sustainability, leveraging a background in engineering to help solve technical and policy issues pertaining to the environment.

As a Junior, Krish has participated in a variety of activities that center around his academic passion and personal interest. This past summer, he completed an internship in environmental underwriting, where he applied risk analysis to a variety of environmental factors for insurance submissions across several industries. In addition, he participated in several research projects for underwriting reference, including an emerging contaminant guide and a data center account benchmarking tool. This opportunity emphasized his interest in applying his engineering background to environmental analysis and consulting applications. Regarding service, Krish has participated as an instructor and is now the program manager for SproutUp, an environmental education volunteering club with a chapter at NYU. He both teaches and organizes weekly lessons to first and second grade students in NYC public schools. Krish also enjoys writing articles for the NYU Undergraduate Law Review, in which his most recent article outlined the impacts of the Endangerment Finding repeal.

During his Sophomore Spring, Krish spent a semester abroad at NYU London. In London, he immersed himself in a new culture, met people with diverse perspectives, and traveled to several European countries. One of his many highlights was taking classes in British Politics and Modern Imperialism that were relevant to London’s history and culture. In addition, Krish spent a week at a sea turtle conservation program in Costa Rica where he helped protect and collect sea turtle eggs and release baby sea turtles into the ocean. After this fulfilling, educational experience, Krish plans to pursue other wildlife service opportunities abroad!

Overall, the GLASS program has helped Krish further cultivate his values of leadership, global responsibility, and service. His focus on the global challenge of climate change, specifically the UN Sustainability Goal of Climate Action, has been shaped by a deep sense of responsibility for protecting the environment both within his community and around the world. Through GLASS, Krish has been able to transform his passion for sustainability into meaningful experiences, actionable insights, and a broader understanding of the interconnected environmental challenges facing communities globally. These experiences have strengthened the skills and perspective he hopes to carry throughout his academic, professional, and personal journey. Moving forward, Krish hopes to use what he has learned through GLASS to contribute meaningfully to the environmental change he wants to see in the world and to promote a greater sense of global responsibility for our shared environment.

Besides his passion for sustainability, Krish also enjoys traveling, working out, and trying new restaurants! He plans to run a half-marathon every semester in college. As he enters the GLASS program, he is most excited for the study abroad and commitment to service experiences.
