Gopinath Gnanakumar Malathi is a PhD student in the Department of Technology Management and Innovation at New York University. He is a sociotechnical researcher focused on public interest technologies that enable democratic decision-making. Gopi employs qualitative and participatory methods to investigate how communities engage with online collaborative platforms, participating in and informing decisions about the future of their neighborhoods and cities. He holds a Master of Science in City and Regional Planning from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, and has over five years of professional experience designing and implementing community engagement across the Northeastern US.
