Global Challenge: Development of Neurotechnology for Mental Health Treatment

Bio:

I am a sophomore at NYU Tandon School of Engineering studying Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering with a minor in Biomolecular Sciences. I was born and raised in Caguas, Puerto Rico.

Over the past year, I have worked as a tutor for America Reads/Counts at a public school in Brooklyn, helping students from 4th and 5th grades in Mathematics and Spanish. I have also participated in the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium, with my research focused on the influence of the mental health of Puerto Rican teenage student-athletes on their physical performance. During the summer, I researched the development of hands-on projects for first-year engineering students as part of the Undergraduate Summer Research Program.

For the next academic year, I will work as a General Engineering TA and participate in the Urban Food Lab VIP team. At the same time, I will continue being an active member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and the Puerto Rican Student Association at NYU (PRÁ).

I enjoy long walks through New York City and taking photos with my film camera. During my free time, you can find me sitting in parks reading books or writing poetry.
