The Tandon Zine

  • The creative voice of Tandon

VIP Logo

Our VIP will draw on and extend the legacy of student-curated publications of student writing and art at Tandon and its prior incarnation, The Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. Team members will create a zine dedicated to publishing all genres of Tandon students’ work – designs for projects and games, poetry, essays, fiction, artwork, cartoons. We’re interested in the intersection between STEM and the arts, and providing a venue for creative science and engineering communication. Our goal is that the zine will serve as a way of documenting our shared institutional history at Tandon, during this time of great change in STEM fields and education, and in downtown Brooklyn and the world.

Team members will define the aesthetic and editorial goals for the publication, solicit and evaluate submissions, and establish and implement an editorial process, including providing feedback to contributors and fact-checking. This experience will expand their skills in print and web design, editing, publishing, publicity, and distribution, and give them the opportunity to mentor other students. In Spring 2026, we’ll be focused on designing and curating our first issue, building the web companion to our print zine, and planning a public reading to share creators’ work with the Tandon community.
