Overview

The NYU Nanofabrication Cleanroom (NYU Nanofab) is the first academic cleanroom facility in Brooklyn, located at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. The lab features a mix of Class 100 and Class 1000 cleanroom bays, supporting cutting-edge research in quantum science, advanced materials, and biotechnology, with strategic emphasis on:

  • 2D quantum heterostructures and devices
  • Superconducting and semiconducting quantum platforms
  • Semiconductor-based bioelectronic systems.

As a shared core research facility, NYU Nanofab supports a diverse user base across NYU, including researchers from the Tandon School of Engineering and the Faculty of Arts & Science. NYU Nanofab also welcomes external researchers, including academic groups, startups, and industry partners engaged in advanced device fabrication and materials research. In addition, NYU Nanofab serves as a prototyping site within the Northeast Regional Defense Technology Hub (NORDTECH), supporting “lab-to-fab” activities within this regional semiconductor innovation ecosystem.

NYU Nanofab is also committed to workforce development in semiconductor and quantum technologies, playing an active role in educating the next generation of engineers, scientists, and technologists.
