Jingqin Gao, assistant director of research at NYU Tandon's C2SMART transportation research center, co-authored a study that found that speed cameras typically begin achieving safety benefits within six months of installation, and that the study’s three-year New York City analysis found cameras in many locations nearly eliminated speeding behaviors within 18 months.
