Surrealism in the Age of AI
Industry Professor Carla Gannis shared her exploration on the boundaries of AI and surrealistic art. “For Surrealism, it was this idea of the collective unconscious — the dream state. But now, with all these scraped images and working with data, it’s more of a collective conscious,” said Gannis. “There’s always this talk that AI is just a tool. But as a teacher, I know this is not like any other tool I’ve used for artmaking. … It’s learning from me.”
