Robots in our midst: Rare sighting of new humanoid robot amazes onlookers


A Brooklyn doctor's humanoid robot named Astra amazed onlookers during a publicity stunt for his vein treatment center. The Unitree robot can walk, dance, and interact via ChatGPT. Professor Ludovic Righetti co-directs NYU Tandon's Center for Robotics and Embodied Intelligence, noted Brooklyn's robotics boom, saying "Brooklyn is a very exciting place...there's lots of robotics activity right now." He mentioned that 20 years ago his lab acquired Hermes, likely Brooklyn's first humanoid robot.
