A real-time flood tracker is expanding to help New Yorkers during major storms
New York City is committing $7.2 million to install hundreds of new flood-monitoring sensors in neighborhoods across the five boroughs, marking an expansion of its three-year-old FloodNet project, co-developed by NYU Tandon researchers. “If there's a flood developing, looking at one of the [real-time] data sets, we can understand how we issue the right warnings to people,” commented Andrea Silverman, assistant professor and co-director of FloodNet.
