Elza Erkip is an institute professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering.

Elza Erkip’s extensive writings on wireless networks as well as communication and information theory have made her one of the most frequently cited researchers in the field of computer science. She has also earned the Stephen O. Rice Paper Prize and the Award for Advances in Communication, both from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Communications Society. Erkip sits on the board of governors of the IEEE Information Theory Society and served as society president in 2018. She was a distinguished lecturer for the IEEE Information Theory Society in 2013 and 2014.
