Commencement 2022

An event three years in the making!

It was pomp and pageantry times three when NYU Tandon’s commencement ceremony arrived “Back in Brooklyn” at the Barclays Center on May 16. That day, the Class of 2022 was joined by members of the Classes of 2020 and 2021, whose own commencements had been held virtually due to the pandemic.

Forming a veritable sea of NYU violet, almost 2,400 grads walked the stage to receive their well-deserved degrees and personal congratulations from Dean Jelena Kovačević, whose joy was evident throughout the event. That joy was palpable throughout Barclays, as family and friends gave rafter-shaking cheers that would have been the envy of any athletic team that has played in that venue.

And considering the drive and dedication it takes to earn a STEM degree, it’s a safe bet that most of those grads — now taking their places among a community of 65,000 NYU Tandon Made alumni around the world — had worked harder and sweated more to get to that day than almost anyone.
