AI Finally Beat the Best Stratego Player in History, and Did It on a Budget
Assistant Professor Eugene Vinitsky co-authored a study on Ataraxos, an AI built by researchers at MIT, Carnegie Mellon, NYU and Stanford that beat four-time Stratego world champion Pim Niemeijer 15 games to one, with four draws. It trained on 16 GPUs for a week, a fraction of the computing power behind DeepMind's earlier DeepNash. "There's something super distinctive about Stratego, which is that it is a massive amount of hidden information," Vinitsky said.
