Eight clean energy technology companies from across the United Kingdom have been selected for the 2026 Innovate UK Global Incubator Programme and will gather in New York the week of November 9, 2026 to launch six months of U.S. market entry support hosted by NYU Tandon School of Engineering’s Urban Future Lab (UFL).

The in-person week puts the cohort directly in front of the people who shape how climate technology gets adopted in New York. Founders will meet with the New York City Economic Development Corporation, NYSERDA, the UK Department for Business and Trade, investors, and experts from NYU Law on the federal policy landscape. From there, each company moves into a structured curriculum paired with mentorship and targeted introductions to customers, partners, and capital.

This marks the seventh year UFL has served as the U.S. home base for the programme. UFL is a nonprofit innovation hub for leading climatetech startups, and its role is practical: help international founders understand how the U.S. market actually works and build the relationships that turn interest into contracts.

The partnership supports NYU Tandon’s work in sustainability, one of the school’s cross-disciplinary impact areas, where research and education are directed toward technologies that strengthen environmental resilience and economic growth across industries.

This year’s companies concentrate on two of the toughest challenges in the energy transition: making existing buildings use less energy, and storing clean power for when it’s needed most:

  1. Eyesea Green: Develops low-cost, wireless room-level building controls that use occupancy and environmental data to reduce heating and cooling energy use. It is aimed particularly at multifamily and other multi-room buildings where traditional BMS retrofits are too expensive or lack room-by-room control.
  2. Verv: Uses high-frequency energy monitoring and AI to identify appliance-level energy use, inefficiency and equipment faults in buildings.
  3. Allye Energy: Provides modular battery energy storage and intelligent energy management to help businesses add power capacity, cut peak costs and work around grid constraints.
  4. Matt:e: Develops electrical safety and monitoring technology that detects dangerous neutral/PEN faults and voltage anomalies, with a strong focus on EV charging infrastructure.
  5. Treeva: Develops modular on-site renewable power solutions, including turbines that capture airflow from passing road and rail traffic to generate electricity.
  6. Sherwood Power: Develops long-duration energy storage that stores renewable electricity as compressed air and heat, then regenerates power when demand and prices are higher.
  7. RheEnergise: Develops High-Density Hydro, a long-duration pumped-hydro system using a fluid denser than water so storage projects can be built on smaller hills closer to demand.
  8. Integrated System Technologies (IST): Develops centralized low-voltage DC lighting systems for commercial and institutional buildings, moving power electronics out of individual luminaires to reduce energy use, maintenance, wiring complexity and connected endpoints.

“Strong international partnerships are essential to helping innovative UK businesses reach their full potential. Through our long-standing collaboration with NYU Tandon's Urban Future Lab, we are giving ambitious clean energy companies access to the networks, expertise and commercial opportunities they need to grow and scale internationally. We are excited to see this cohort build new partnerships, attract investment and unlock growth opportunities in the US market." Jon Hazell, Partnership Manager, North America and Global Incubator, Innovate UK.

We provide the funding, expert support and connections to help breakthrough ideas reach their potential, improve lives and drive economic growth. Innovate UK is part of UK Research and Innovation.

Linda Ng Boyle, Vice Dean for Research, NYU Tandon School of Engineering: “Developing promising technology is only part of the challenge. Getting it adopted means understanding customers, infrastructure and market barriers. This year’s Innovate UK cohort is tackling challenges closely aligned with research at Tandon, from energy-efficient buildings to reliable clean power. Through the Urban Future Lab and its Innovate UK Global Incubator Programme, we’re advancing a central goal of Tandon's research mission, which is moving innovations out of the lab and into the market, where they can make a real difference.”
