5 Student Teams’ Innovations Win 2026 Collegiate Inventors Competition

NYU graduate students Rayan Bargouth and Asser El Ashwah won the $5,000 graduate runner-up award for BioAxis, a device intended to support healing of partial-thickness rotator cuff tears. Developed by Vitalis Regenerative Materials, the single-use device combines a patient's platelet-rich plasma with a bioresorbable polymer to form an injectable hydrogel designed to support tendon repair. The team was advised by Richard Stein.
