3D sensing & AI give operatic voice to non-verbal performers
Associate Professor Luke Dubois helped create technology for "Sensorium Ex," a historic opera featuring predominantly disabled performers, by developing speech synthesis solutions enabling non-verbal artists to perform with emotional nuance beyond traditional robotic output. The seven-year collaboration with composer Paola Prestini fused 3D sensing, AI, and assistive technology, culminating in the May 2025 Omaha premiere that reimagined operatic performance accessibility.
