Yujing Song is a Research Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He earned his B.S. in Energy Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2014, followed by his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2016 and 2020, respectively. Before joining NYU Tandon, Dr. Song completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan and gained industry experience as a Senior Research Scientist at 454 Bio, where he worked on developing open-source, cost-effective, and portable next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms.

Dr. Song's research focuses on single-molecule detection, spatial transcriptomics and proteomics, point-of-care microfluidic devices, organ-on-chip systems, AI-driven biomarker-guided precision medicine, and targeted nanomedicine delivery. His current projects involve developing next-generation ultrasensitive biosensing platforms for detecting proteins and tumor DNA/RNA in clinical settings such as the ICU and surgical environments. He is also creating integrated sensing platforms for organ-on-chip systems and monitoring targeted nanomedicine delivery. Dr. Song is dedicated to building a highly interdisciplinary research team with expertise in chemical and molecular assays, instrumentation, micro- and nano-fabrication, mechatronics, optics, and the application of machine learning and algorithms in bioengineering. He is actively recruiting undergraduate and M.S. students with backgrounds in biomedical, chemical, mechanical, and electrical engineering to join his team.
