Experienced attorney and executive manager with a background in complex construction and commercial disputes. Advise business leaders and project teams on various matters, which include new business opportunities, deal structures and risk management. Advise project executives and project managers to resolve trade contractor negotiations and disputes. Review, negotiate, and draft construction management agreements with owners and subcontract agreements with trade contractors. Currently an adjunct professor at New York University Tandon School of Engineering teaching graduate coursework in Construction Law and Contracts & Specifications. Former Chair of the Construction Committee and current member of the ADR Committee, Committee on Committees and House Committee of the New York County Lawyers’ Association. Lecture and moderate panel discussions (CLEs) on topical issues affecting the construction industry.
More than 18 years’ experience as a construction attorney representing contractors and owners with respect to private and public projects involving the construction of office buildings, hotels, museums, casinos, condominiums and apartment buildings, hospitals, schools, shopping centers, airport terminals, and courthouses. Also involved with environmental and hazardous waste remediation projects.
Experience includes contract drafting and negotiation as well as working with project team management to solve operational issues with owners and contractors. Representation also includes litigation, arbitration, and mediation arising from the projects.
Risk management experience includes placing and negotiating various construction related policies including professional liability, pollution, builders risk, general liability and contractor default insurance. Submitted, negotiated and sometimes oversee litigation of claims in all catagories.
Extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution as an arbitrator, mediator, and advocate for 17+ years in architecture, engineering, design, construction, and environmental services, and in general commercial and contract matters. Amounts in dispute have ranged from a few thousand dollars to approximately $30 million.
