About Our Speakers:
Joe Whitley is the Chair of the White-Collar Defense, Investigations and Regulatory Enforcement practice at Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP. He represents clients nationally and internationally in a variety of white-collar matters. Joe has served in several high-level roles with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS). He has served as Acting Associate Attorney General, the third-ranking position at Main Justice, and was Presidentially appointed to serve as the U.S. Attorney in the Middle (Macon) and Northern (Atlanta) Districts of Georgia. Joe has served under five U.S. Attorneys General and four Presidents in several key operational and policy positions. He also served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit in Columbus, Georgia. In 2003, Joe was Presidentially appointed as the first General Counsel for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the highest-ranking legal official at DHS.
Mark Schnapp has more than 40 years of litigation experience, including seven years at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida, where he was Chief of the Criminal Division and Public Corruption Section. Mark focuses his practice on white-collar criminal defense matters, SEC and regulatory enforcement issues, complex and civil litigation, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) matters and environmental issues. Mark has also represented engineering firms throughout his career. He routinely advises boards, audit committees, and special committees. Mark has handled more than 70 jury and non-jury trials in Federal and State Courts.
