January, Spring Break, and Summer Term Opportunities

NYU Tandon offers unique short-term global programs designed specifically for Tandon students. These programs provide an opportunity to immerse yourself in a focused academic topic taught by NYU Tandon faculty with a required travel component or learn about a place led by Administrative staff. The programs run during J-term, spring break, and summer. The Tandon Global team is continually working to expand these global opportunities for upperclassmen.

Heartland Insights: Tulsa Tech Industry & Innovation Immersion

Experience the vibrant culture, groundbreaking innovation, and rich history of Tulsa, Oklahoma, through this week-long trip designed exclusively for Tandon graduate students. This unique opportunity, hosted by NYU Tandon, offers a hands-on exploration of Tulsa’s dynamic communities, from the iconic Greenwood District to cutting-edge tech hubs.

NYU graduate and doctoral students only

Travel Component:

This experience offers a trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma during NYU’s Spring Break 2026, where students will participate in site visits, discussions, and activities designed to immerse them in the cultural and urban landscape of the city. A mandatory Zoom orientation will be held after students are accepted into the program.

Trip Highlights:

  • Cultural Exploration:
    • Walking tour of the historic Greenwood District and Greenwood Rising Museum.
    • Discover Tulsa’s Indigenous history through Urban Indigeneity tours and the Philbrook Museum.
    • Dive into Tulsa's art and music scene with live shows and sunset socials.
  • Tech & Innovation:
    • Visit Tulsa Innovation Labs and Skyway 36 to learn about aerospace and drone technology.
    • Engage with the University of Tulsa’s Cybersecurity and Clean Energy programs.
  • Urban Development:
    • Explore Tulsa’s architecture and urban planning initiatives.
    • Participate in panels discussing equitable development and civic innovation.
  • Professional Growth:
    • Network with Tulsa’s leaders in business, civic engagement, and tech industries.
    • Opportunities to connect with University of Tulsa students, NYU students, and various professionals.

Program Details:

  • Cost: $1,200 per student including accommodations, itinerary activities and excursions, and some meals. In addition, students will pay for their individual flights.
  • Eligibility: Open to all NYU graduate students (master's and PhD).
  • Accommodation: Holiday Inn Express located near the NYU Tulsa site.
  • Dates: March 15-20, 2026
    • Arrival: Sunday, March 15, 2026
    • Program: Monday, March 16 – Friday, March 19, 2026
    • Return: Saturday, March 20, 2026

Application Details:

Applications are now open for this program. Selected participants will be expected to fully engage in all scheduled activities and serve as NYU ambassadors throughout the trip.

Application Deadline: October 15, 2025
Rolling applications accepted afterwards

Eligibility:

Students must be an enrolled NYU graduate student (master's and PhD).
