The NYU Tandon Bridge Program helps learners from non-technical backgrounds gain the knowledge and confidence to succeed in today’s technology-driven world.

Developed and taught by faculty in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the Bridge Program provides a rigorous introduction to computer science fundamentals, mathematical reasoning, and programming. Whether you’re preparing for a STEM graduate program or pivoting into a technical role in industry, the Bridge certificate demonstrates your ability to master core computing concepts and apply them in real-world contexts.

This 100% online, non-credit course is self-paced and designed for flexibility. You will have up to one year of access to course materials, allowing you to balance professional, personal, and academic goals at your own pace.

Note: The Bridge course assumes familiarity with introductory Python and precalculus. Learners can take a pre-assessment to determine whether the Bridge OnRamp prep course is recommended before beginning.


Program Structure

The Bridge Program consists of two parts:

Bridge OnRamp

An optional prep course covering:

  • Precalculus Foundations
  • Introduction to Python

Bridge Course

The main curriculum covering:

  • Discrete Mathematics
  • C++
  • Data Structures
  • Networking
  • Operating Systems


The course is letter-graded, and learners must earn a grade of C (70%) or better to pass and receive a certificate credential. Grades are determined by performance on four exams taken throughout the course.
