As the digital teaching arm of a multi-campus NYU project, this project will bring together students, faculty, and staff to research the significance immigrants to New York City, focusing especially on the 19th century through present day. This is done by going through different kinds of data available, including physical records, archives, social media, and then using this information, combined with machine learning to create interactive media. 

The main goals of the project are:

  1. to account for and digitize the rich sources at NYU about immigrant communities historically;
  2. to document and collect digitally on contemporary immigrant communities in New York.
