Application Timeline

All NYU students can join a VIP Team. To join VIP, students must first must apply to and be accepted by a VIP team. More information about the application and enrollment timeline and process is included below.

*Decisions for Spring '25 will be sent out in early December* If you know what teams you are interested in, apply early! You can apply to as many teams as you like, then choose one team to join and enroll. Please note some teams have a limited number of slots and have a rolling deadline. VIP Teams usually notify accepted students via email before the add/drop deadline. To check on the status of your application, feel free to email the VIP team. If no contact information is listed for a team, email vip@nyu.edu. The application for each team is linked at the bottom of their team profile page.

Last day to enroll in VIP is the same as the NYU registration Add/Drop deadline. If you have been accepted to a team, and are having trouble enrolling in Albert, please email vip@nyu.edu for assistance. Students must be enrolled in Albert by Add/Drop to participate in a VIP team. VIP can not verify the enrollment of individual students.

Apply and Enroll

All students apply to join a VIP team using the "Apply to this Team" link on each VIP team page. The applications are generally similar for all teams (Example VIP Application). When a student is accepted to a VIP team, they will receive enrollment instructions and a permission code via email from the VIP team.

Notes for Applicants:

  • New students are primarily selected based on motivation, interest, and commitment toward the project expressed through the application.
  • Most applications are accepted, unless the team is full.
  • Contact the VIP team directly, or vip@nyu.edu, to follow-up regarding an application.
  • Teams with GY next to their team name are open to undergraduate & graduate students. All other teams are open to undergraduate students only.
  • Enrollment in Albert by Add/Drop is always required for participation. There are no exceptions.

Variable Credit Structure:

The VIP Program operates on a variable credit structure in which all new students and most returning students enroll for one (1) credit per semester. Students who grow into positions of leadership and specialization may enroll for two (2) credits per semester. Read more about the credit policies for VIP.
