Your social security number may be for sale on the dark web
Government officials warn that American Social Security numbers are widely available on the dark web for purchase by fraudsters. "All of our personally identifiable information, name, date of birth, former addresses, Social Security number is available and can likely be purchased," explained Professor Justin Cappos, in an interview. He recommends limiting personal data sharing, implementing credit freezes, and advocates for increased government investment in cybersecurity professionals since government programs are prime targets because "that's where the money is."
