You Can Do That!

Class of 2020 encouraged to take action at Convocation

Want to develop incredible new software, create a mind-blowing game, or make an app that goes viral? Want to work on making medical technology more affordable, energy more sustainable, and life around the globe safer and easier? Want to be a member of a dynamic and diverse team of problem-solvers?

You’re at NYU Tandon — you can do that!

That was the overarching message as first-year students gathered for the 2016 Convocation, welcoming them to the NYU Tandon community.

They would, of course, have to do their part to make those things a reality, as Dean Katepalli Sreenivasan and keynote speaker Dr. Robert Berne, NYU’s Executive Vice President for Health, stressed. There would be hard work ahead, and they would need fortitude and perseverance, but with the support and guidance of their professors, fellow students, and other members of the NYU community, it could be done.

Members of the Class of 2020 were enthusiastic as they filed out of Convocation behind their orientation leaders — raring to take on the challenges that had been outlined for them and with their eyes on the Tandon goal of creating technology in service to society.
