Women's Volleyball goes 2-2 at NYU Invitational
Manhattan, NY - The NYU-Poly women's volleyball team picked up a pair of early season wins over Hunter College 3-1 and Rutgers-Newark 3-0, but fell to host NYU 3-0 and lost a tight match 3-2 to SUNY-Geneseo.
On Saturday, NYU-Poly faced off against rival NYU in boths teams first matches of the year. In the end, NYU proved too much winning in straight sets 25-7, 25-13, 25-16. The Fighting Blue Jays fought back in game two, defeating Rutgers-Newark 25-14, 25-12, and 25-17. Sunday, NYU-Poly fell to SUNY-Geneseo in a five set match that lietrally went down to the wire. The teams were split 2-2 after 4 matches ( 21-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-18) but it was SUNY Geneseo that prevailed in a nailbiting 16-14 final set win. NYU-Poly avenged that loss with a convincing 3-1 victory over Hunter College (25-17, 26-24, 22-25, 25-13).
Junior OH Meredith Shipman (Sugarland, TX / Elkins HS) was selected to the All-Tournament team, which was comprised of the above four universities, along with the Sage Colleges.
