Assistant Professor Bridger Ruyle explained that common prescription drugs — not industrial chemicals — make up the vast majority of PFAS detected at wastewater treatment facilities, and that even advanced systems remove less than 25 percent before discharging water back into rivers that feed drinking supplies for up to 23 million Americans during droughts.
