Three Lady Jays Hit Double Figures as NYU-Poly Routs Yeshiva

NYU-Poly picks up Skyline win 64-37

New York, NY -  The NYU-Poly women's basketball team was led by the trio of senior Consuelo Aranda (Calexico, Mexico) and sophomores Kristin Leitheuser (Millbrook, NY) and Margaux Pickell (Howell, NJ) en route to a convincing 64-37 win over Yeshiva University Wednesday night. With the win, the Lady Jays improve to 5-8 in the Skyline Conference and 9-10 overall. Yeshiva falls to 0-13 in the conference and 2-16 overall.

Leitheuser and Pickell both earned double-doubles with Pickell scoring 16 and bringing down 13 rebounds, while Leitheuser added 13 points and 10 boards. Aranda netted 10 points to go along with five assists.

Neither team shot well from the free throw line as NYU-Poly was just 7-for-18, while the Maccabees were slightly better, shooting 7-for-15. The Lady Jays shot 38% from the field, while Yeshiva hit just 28% of its shots. Yeshiva turned the ball over 30 times, to NYU-Poly's 22.  NYU-Poly held a 33-19 halftime lead.

The Lady Jays are back in action on Sunday as they host Bard College, in a game with playoff implications. NYU-Poly is currently in eighth place with a 5-8 mark, Sage and Purchase sit just a game ahead at 6-8 records.  An NYU-Poly win, with Sage and Purchase loses, could cause a three-way tie for the last Skyline Playoff spot.  Game time is set for 12:00pm in the Jacobs Gymnasium.
