Skyline Conference recognizes top NYU-Poly athletes


Victoria Kalvert, Rookie of the Year

The metropolitan area’s Skyline Conference has honored three Polytechnic Institute of NYU volleyball players.

Victoria Kalvert, a freshman outside hitter who hails from Missouri City, Texas, received the impressive Rookie of the Year distinction. Ms. Kalvert is the second player in as many years to claim the honor; teammate Meredith Shipman was selected as last season’s Rookie of the Year.

Ms. Kalvert led the Skyline Conference with 3.44 kills per set and 303 total kills as well as 1.05 service aces per set. She also ranked second in hitting percentage (.297) and third in blocks per set (0.67). Ms. Kalvert was selected Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week on three occasions during the season.

Ms. Kalvert was also selected for the All-Skyline Conference team. Teammates Meredith Shipman, a sophomore from Sugar Land, Texas, and Jackie Johnson, a junior from Houston, Texas, were also honored with spots on the All-Skyline Conference team.
